Los Angeles Mayor Declares Curfew Reduction
According to Bass, the revised curfew will now begin at 10:00 p.m. local time (0500 GMT) and continue until 6:00 a.m. (1300 GMT) the following morning, covering a one-square-mile section of downtown Los Angeles. This update comes after the initial curfew, enacted on June 10, which mandated restrictions from 8:00 p.m. (0300 GMT) to 6:00 a.m. (1300 GMT).
The move reflects calming tensions after a wave of unrest tied to nationwide “No Kings Day” protests this past Saturday. Police reports indicated that Sunday night was the first since June 6—the start of anti-ICE demonstrations—without any overnight arrests in downtown Los Angeles, signaling a positive shift in public order.
While Monday’s announcement marked a step toward normalcy, it did not include details on when the curfew will be fully lifted, leaving the timeline uncertain as authorities continue monitoring the situation.
