Turkish Airlines Reports Strong Passenger, Cargo Growth
According to a statement on Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the total number of passengers increased by 5.8% year-over-year. The airline saw a significant boost in international-to-international transfer traffic, which grew by 10.3% to 23.1 million passengers. The overall load factor also saw a modest increase of 0.6 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024. The international load factor stood at 82.3%, while the domestic load factor was even higher at 86.7%.
The airline's available seat kilometers (ASK) rose by 6.4%, reaching 179.2 billion in the eight-month period, up from 168.5 billion in 2024. Cargo and mail volume also saw a healthy increase, climbing 5.4% to 1.4 million tons compared to the 1.3 million tons recorded in the same period last year.
As of the end of August, Turkish Airlines' fleet had grown to 501 aircraft.
In August alone, the airline's passenger numbers surged by 11.9% year-over-year, reaching 9.4 million. International-to-international transfer passengers in August jumped 17.3% to 3.49 million, and the monthly passenger load factor was up 0.9 percentage points to 86.7%. The international load factor for the month was 86%, while the domestic load factor was exceptionally high at 92.6%. The company's available seat kilometers also saw a substantial leap of 8.2% to 25.3 billion in August, with cargo and mail volume exceeding 191,100 tons, an increase of 10.5% from August 2024.
