Palestinian Man Fatally Shot by Israeli Fire in Gaza

(MENAFN) A Palestinian man was fatally shot by Israeli army forces in northern Gaza on Monday, in what local sources are describing as the latest in a series of ceasefire violations since the truce took effect last October.

A medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City confirmed that the body of Mousa al-Abyad, 44, was received at the facility following his shooting by Israeli forces in the Atatra area, located west of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.

Local sources noted that the Atatra area falls outside the designated zones of Israeli military deployment and control as defined under the ceasefire's terms — raising fresh questions over compliance with the agreement.

Separately, Israeli artillery reportedly struck eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City at dawn, while Israeli naval forces opened fire on the coastlines of Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza. No casualties were reported from those incidents.

Since the ceasefire came into force on October 10, 2025, at least 830 Palestinians have been killed and a further 2,345 injured in Israeli strikes, according to figures released by Gaza's Health Ministry.

The truce was brokered following two years of conflict that erupted on October 8, 2023 — a war that, per Gaza's Health Ministry, has left more than 72,000 Palestinians dead and upward of 172,000 injured, with destruction extending across an estimated 90% of the territory's civilian infrastructure.
