Two Dead in Ukrainian Attack on Russia's Donetsk Region

(MENAFN) Ukrainian attacks claimed two lives and left six others wounded across Russia's Donetsk and Belgorod regions on Sunday, with local officials reporting a string of drone strikes and a cluster munition detonation that compounded casualties throughout the day.

In the Kalininsky district of Horlivka, a married couple was killed and a third person injured in a Ukrainian drone strike, according to Donetsk regional governor Denis Pushilin, who disclosed the toll in a post on Max, the Russian social media platform.

The violence in Horlivka did not end there. In the city's Tsentralno-Gorodskoy district, a man sustained serious injuries after an unexploded cluster munition detonated. A separate drone strike in a settlement within the Mariupol urban district wounded two additional men, bringing the total casualty count for the Donetsk region to one dead couple and four injured.

Further north, the Belgorod region absorbed its own blow when a Ukrainian drone slammed into a commercial facility, destroying the structure and damaging seven passenger vehicles. Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, said a 17-year-old girl was critically injured in the strike, while a 20-year-old man sustained shrapnel wounds to the shoulder — raising the regional wounded toll to two.

The back-to-back strikes underscore the widening geographic footprint of Ukrainian cross-border attacks as frontline hostilities continue to grind on with no ceasefire in sight.
