US Transfers Seized Iranian Vessel Crew to Pakistan for Repatriation

(MENAFN) A vessel intercepted by US forces after allegedly attempting to violate restrictions near Iranian maritime routes has had its crew transferred to Pakistan for repatriation, according to reports citing US military sources.

As stated by reports, US Central Command (US Central Command) said that 22 crew members from the ship M/V Touska were handed over to Pakistani authorities as part of repatriation arrangements.

US military spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins was quoted as saying: “Today, US forces completed the transfer of 22 crew members of M/V Touska to Pakistan for repatriation,” according to ABC News.

He also noted that six additional individuals had previously been transferred to a regional country earlier for similar repatriation procedures. Iranian state media reported that those individuals were family members of crew aboard the vessel.

As stated by general accounts, neither Iranian nor Pakistani officials have publicly confirmed the details of the transfers, and US authorities did not immediately respond to requests for further clarification.

According to reports, the ship was seized by US naval forces on April 19 in the Gulf of Oman after allegedly failing to comply with directives related to maritime restrictions.
