"Personnel of missile units are carrying out training tasks involving the receipt of special warheads for the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system, equipping carrier missiles with the munitions and covertly moving to designated launch positions in preparation for missile launches," the ministry said.
The exercises reportedly involve more than 64,000 troops along with over 7,800 military assets.
Officials said the operation includes more than 200 missile launch systems, upwards of 140 aircraft, 73 naval surface vessels, and 13 submarines, including eight strategic missile submarines.
Reports also said the drills feature joint activities connected to the preparation and potential deployment of nuclear weapons stationed in Belarus as part of military coordination between Moscow and Minsk.
